You may have been kicking your heels over the weekend due to a lack of Premier League action, but Tuesday’s World Cup qualification fixtures should provide an ample warm-up as business returns to normal in the English top flight on Saturday.
Goal.com brings you all of the Premier League stars who are set to get some minutes on Tuesday evening during the World Cup qualification fixtures and friendlies staged around the world.
World Cup Qualification UEFA – Group A |
Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam, Everton forward Steven Naismith and Norwich City winger Robert Snodgrass will be in action for Scotland as Craig Levein’s men take on Macedonia.
World Cup Qualification UEFA – Group C |
Arsenal duo Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker are in line to play some part in Germany’s second Group C match against Austria.
West Brom defender Jonas Olsson is likely to start for Sweden in their opening qualification fixture against Kazakhstan.
World Cup Qualification UEFA – Group D |
Nuri Sahin came on as a substitute for Turkey against Netherlands but could be handed a start against Estonia on Tuesday.
World Cup Qualification UEFA – Group E |
Arsenal defender Johan Djourou is set to start for Switzerland in their World Cup qualification clash against Albania. Ottmar Hitzfeld’s side beat Slovenia 2-0 in their opening Group E fixture.
World Cup Qualification UEFA – Group F |
Jonny Evans has declared himself fit for Northern Ireland’s home tie against Luxembourg.
Yossi Benayoun is also likely to be in action in Group F as Israel host Russia.
World Cup Qualification UEFA – Group G |
Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is set to captain Slovakia as they take on Liechtenstein.
World Cup Qualification UEFA – Group H |
Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could retain his place in Roy Hodgson’s starting side as England host Ukraine at Wembley.
Manchester United’s Tom Cleverley may also retain his place in midfield, while John Terry will miss out with an ankle injury. Gary Cahill is likely to step in for the Chelsea captain.
Hodgson has also called up Raheem Sterling, Jake Livermore and Adam Lallana to the senior side.
World Cup Qualification UEFA – Group I |
Hugo Lloris, Patrice Evra and Yohan Cabaye are all likely to start for France’s qualification tie against Belarus. Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has picked up a muscle problem and is likely to miss out.

Republic of Ireland are in friendly action against Oman on Tuesday evening. James McClean may get some minutes despite his Twitter rant directed at Giovanni Trapattoni after the Sunderland midfielder failed to feature against Kazakhstan. Stoke City forward Jonathan Walters is likely to retain his starting place in attack.
