The Uruguay striker made his return from suspension in Wednesday’s Capital One Cup defeat to Manchester United and said he is determined to help his team progress in the league
Luis Suarez’s return to action for Liverpool on Wednesday evening may not have had the outcome he wanted but the striker says he is eager to help the Reds achieve success this season.
The controversial Uruguayan gave a promising performance in his first outing since biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic last season, though the Reds were defeated 1-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Suarez was the subject of a summer-long transfer saga but, having remained at Anfield, insists he is keen to assist Liverpool on the pitch, though he was disappointed with the Capital One Cup loss.
“The result is not good because we lost but the feeling is good because we played very well, we created chances and we missed,” Suarez told the club’s official website.
“I know it was a difficult moment but for myself and for the team it’s very important I’m back because I can help the team and [being] off the pitch I can’t. We’ll keep going for the week and for the next game.
“All the time I try my best on the pitch. I’m here to help the team and help Liverpool and I’ll try my best.”
