Origi cools talk of January switch to Liverpool

The 19-year-old had earlier suggested he would be keen to move to Merseyside in the New Year but now insists he will be professional for the remainder of his time with Lille

Divock Origi has moved to clarify previous comments about the possibility of bringing his move to Liverpool forward to January and reiterated his commitment to Lille this season.

On Thursday the Belgian striker – who was signed by the Reds in a €12.5 million (£10m) deal last summer but allowed to remain in Ligue 1 on loan – admitted he would not say no if both clubs agreed to let him move to Merseyside in January.

But the terms of the original agreement are believed to make this possibility difficult, and on Friday Origi took to Twitter to insist he will be professional for the remainder of his time with Lille.

Liverpool sold top scorer Luis Suarez to Barcelona for £75 million in the summer have won just four of 14 matches in all competitions since Daniel Sturridge suffered a hamstring injury on international duty with England.

Origi, meanwhile, has netted five times in 16 appearances in all competitions for Lille, who currently languish in 14th in Ligue 1.
