Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has said that he will not stand in the way of any potential transfer for Christian Benteke this summer if the forward wants to go. Sherwood has said that while he would prefer to keep Benteke, he would not stand in the way of a transfer if they received a significant sum as compensation and the Belgian international wanted to move away from the Midlands.
Benteke is valued at around £30m, and both Liverpool and Man Utd are keeping tabs on him. The Reds have been linked heavily with a move, especially if Raheem Sterling transfers away from Anfield this summer
I’ve no idea what he’d cost, because I don’t want to sell him. It would have to be a lot of money for anyone to take him from us.
He’d be too expensive for a great deal of clubs in the Premier League. But we’re not looking to sell our assets and he’s certainly one of those.
If a player doesn’t want to play for the club anymore and the club he wants to go to meet the valuation then I think it’s always best to let them go
