Liverpool have introduced a salary cap for their academy players which will see their earnings capped at £40,000 for the first year of their professional contract. The move, which has the backing of Jurgen Klopp, is aimed at combating the “too much, too soon” problem that we’re seeing with many young players.
Liverpool have also decided to slash their youth intake from 240 to 170.
How much this impacts LFC in the transfer market remains to be seen, especially against bigger clubs willing to offer more money.
