We saw last week how Liverpool’s players performed in Round 1 of the World Cup– here’s how they did in Round 2 and 3.
Mo Salah:- After being unused against Uruguay, came back into the starting XI vs Russia and Saudi Arabia, but could not change Egypt’s fortunes. Was Man of the Match against Saudi Arabia.
Dejan Lovren:- Lovren played the 90 in Croatia’s win over Argentina, and had 20 minutes in Croatia’s final group game against Iceland. The Croats won all thee of their group games.
Roberto Firmino:- Had 22 minutes off the bench against Costa Rica and did not feature at all in their final group game against Serbia.
Marko Grujic and Simon Mignolet:- No playing time for them at all. Serbia missed out on the Round of 16, but Belgium advanced
Jordan Henderson:- 90 minutes against Panama, but did not play against Belgium.
Trent-Alexander Arnold:- Started and played 79 minutes in the final group game against Belgium
Sadio Mane:- Played 90 minutes in Senegal’s 2nd and 3rd group games. Captained them for the second, but handed over the reigns for the third to West Ham’s Cheikhou Kouyate, which the Teranga Lions lost to Colombia. Senegal were cruelly knocked out of the World Cup on the Fair Play Rule
