Goalkeeper
Asmir Begovic
It’s pretty difficult to pick where a clean sheet might come from this week so I’ve gone down the route of second-best defence in the Premier League, Stoke City, who visit the second-lowest scorers in the division, Aston Villa.
Hopefully Begovic can provide another clean sheet for the points total.
Defenders
Ashley s
Swansea City welcome Norwich City to Liberty Stadium and although the visitors have scored regularly on their travels they may find things tough as Michael Laudrup’s men are very good at keeping the ball and restricting the opposition. Ashley s does get forward for set pieces and hopefully the Swans defence can keep things tight.
David Luiz
Chelsea visit Sunderland who have hardly been prolific in front of goal this season, and David Luiz should have a good chance of adding to his total of six clean sheets so far this season.
He does carry the risk of a booking but his threat going forward means he goes into this week’s team.
Joey O’Brien
The visit of Liverpool to Upton Park will not instil the same fear in West Ham’s defence as it once might of. Brendan Rodgers’ men aren’t an attacking force to be too worried about and Joey O’Brien stands a decent change of adding a fifth clean sheet to his tally for the season.
Vincent Kompany
The Belgium international is involved in the biggest Premier League game this weekend, the Manchester derby. Although putting in a defender who faces the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie might seem a strange one, Roberto Mancini will surely want to keep this game tight especially with City being at home and Kompany poses enough of a threat in the air to be included.
Midfielders
Gaston Ramirez
An average of 6.4 points per game with two goals and two assists plus a game against Reading who have not exactly been defensively sound is a recipe for more points where Gaston Ramirez is concerned.
The Southampton midfielder should get plenty of chances to score plenty of points in this game and he’s well worth putting in this week’s team.
Juan Mata
The Spanish midfielder is a sublime technician with the ability to dictate play, provide assists for others and score goals himself. An average of 7.8 points per game says it all. He scored 16 points against Nordsjaelland in midweek and a trip to Sunderland is a great opportunity for another double figure score.
Marouane Fellaini
Another Belgium international makes this week’s team. Fellaini averages 8.2 points per game and is showing why David Moyes was willing to pay such a large sum of money to bring him to Merseyside.
He’ll be looking to control the midfield against Spurs and poses a huge goal threat as his tally of eight shows.
Michu
Michael Laudrup’s decision to bring Michu to Wales has proved to be one of the shrewdest transfers of the summer. 10 goals and one assist mean the Spanish midfielder is fantasy football gold and after a 15 point haul against Arsenal the visit of Norwich could see another big score.
Strikers
Robin van Persie
The Netherlands international has continued his fine goal scoring form in the red of Manchester United since his summer switch from Arsenal and should thrive under the pressure of the Manchester derby at Etihad Stadium.
Playing in the more advanced striking role there’s a good chance he’ll score his 10th goal of the season.
Carlos Tevez
Much as Robin van Persie should thrive under the pressure of a Manchester derby, the same could be said of former United star Carlos Tevez.
The Argentina striker has five goals to his name and four assists so far in this campaign and a goal filled match between the top two Premier League clubs could see the points total climb high enough for a place in the money.
