Luis Suarez shone again as Liverpool overcame a spirited Stoke City fightback to move back into the Premier League’s top four at the Britannia Stadium.
A Ryan Shawcross own goal put the visitors in front on five minutes before Suarez struck to double their lead, but a Peter Crouch header and Charlie Adam piledriver brought the Potters level before the break.
But Steven Gerrard restored Liverpool’s advantage from the penalty spot and Suarez curled home superbly to seal the win, though Jonathan Walters’ late strike made matters tense until Daniel Sturridge struck.
