Tony Pulis admits star striker Saido Berahino could still leave West Brom in January if the club receives an “unbelievable offer” for him.

On Tuesday, chairman Jeremy Peace released a statement insisting that “unless manager Tony Pulis decides otherwise, Berahino is too important to us to consider trading”.

However, Pulis is wary of ruling out the possibility that the 21-year-old – who has been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham after scoring 14 goals in 26 appearances this season – could depart for a big fee in the January window.

“The problem with talking about any players at this time of the year is that if someone comes in with an unbelievable offer you can’t turn down then you end up with egg on your face,” he told reporters.

“We’d love to keep him. He’s an outstanding talent and someone who’ll score goals. He’s got a great record for someone of that age.

“To turn around and say he’s not going anywhere, that’s difficult at times, because you never know what’s around the corner.”

Berahino has a contract with WBA until June 2017.
