Mohamed Salah only LFC player in 2018 PFA Team of the Year

Mohamed Salah was the only Liverpool player to be named in the PFA’s Premier League Team of the Year that was officially released today.

Last year, Liverpool had only one representative as well in the form of Sadio Mane, who misses out this year. The common players from the 2017 and 2018 lists are Man Utd goalkeeper David de Gea, Man City right back Harry Kane and Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane.

Werner to LFC rumours quashed? Brewster to be promoted instead?

We had reported a couple of days ago that the German press were linking Liverpool with a move for Timo Werner in the summer, but if the Echo is to be believed, the Reds are in fact, NOT interested in acquiring the player with Jurgen Klopp thinking of promoting promising youngster Rhian Brewster to the first team in 2018/19.

After the winter departure of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, Liverpool have a front three of Mane, Firmino and Salah but their replacements aren’t at the same level (perennially injured Sturridge, currently out on loan, Ings and young Solanke), which would make another signing quite understandable.

Timo Werner to Liverpool? German press links LFC with another Leipzig player

If the press in Germany are to be believed, Liverpool are keeping tabs on Leipzig’s young striker Timo Werner. The Reds have already agreed a deal with the German outfit to sign Naby Keita in the summer and now allegedly have the striker on their wishlist too.

Werner could potentially fit in well with Liverpool- they have a German manager in Klopp and have a front three (Salah, Mane, Firmino) whom Klopp is reluctant to rotate owing to the drop in quality of their replacements.

A transfer fee of something close to the 100 million euro mark has been mooted. Werner recently helped Leipzig claim their first ever victory over Bayern, but RBL might not be willing to sell two key players in the same transfer window.
