Liverpool produced a stunning performance to ensure they would be top of the league come Christmas with a 7-0 demolition of Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Potential opponents for LFC in Round of 16 Champions League | Possible teams Liverpool could face in 2020-21 UCL knockout
Which teams could Liverpool face in the Round of 16 (knockout stages) of the 2020/21 Champions League?
LFC could face any of these seven opponents- Borussia Monchengladbach, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, FC Porto, RB Leipzig, Lazio
These seven finished as runners up of their group. All English teams won their group and Liverpool cannot face the runner-up of their own group (Atalanta), so their Round of 16 opponents will be from one of the seven above.
Can Liverpool face Man City or Chelsea in the UCL Round of 16?
No, teams from the same association cannot face each other in the Round of 16. Also Chelsea and City both won their groups, so they are seeded (as are LFC), and a group leader can only play a group runner-up (unseeded)
Fabinho and Wijnaldum named in Team of the Week
Gini Wijnaldum and Fabinho have both found places in the Premier League Team of the Week for Round 11. Wijnaldum, who scored a stunner in their 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, was named in the BBC (Garth Crooks) team of the week, while Fabinho, deputising at centre back given the Reds’ long injury list, was in both the BBC and the official Premier League (Alan Shearer’s) TOTW.
The team, perhaps not surprisingly, was dominated by Tottenham Hotspur players following their 2-0 North London derby win over Arsenal.
